Shirley Li is a drawing based illustrator, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa now based in Vancouver B.C, whose works consists of mark-making abstract forms in varies styles in large formatted drawings. Food is a main theme of Shirley’s work in which she interacts and challenges the notions of how we see these particles become one with each other. Through finding the themes of food and the unknown her work has come to realize the potential of these two placed together. Not only do we see that within the work, it makes us ponder the mark-making for further investigation. Shirley is currently a student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, majoring in a BFA in Illustration.
